The Way of the Hunter in Goblin Town

Apelred joined Tormay, Colzarak & Phaedrus for a trip down Goblin Town and found the missing pages of The Way of the Hunter which gives the Press Onwards heal trait. This can be made an in-combat skill with the correct combination of traits so a trip to the bard is called for.

Level 50

Apelred reached the milestone of level 50 and special thanks must go to his kinfolk Tormay, Aconite, Gastano and Aislina for their patience, advice and guidance during a thrilling series of quests in Carn Dum.

Tormay's friend Ceshac assisted Apelred's friend Floribunda to complete Call of the Precious Things IV so she can start polishing the beryls that have been kindly donated by her kinfolk.

Also in the news Captain Grimberg made a rare outing making level 15 which means he can successfully do the Tier 2 Weaponsmithing quest that he tried and failed (numerous times) at level 13 as the quest has a level limit.

Book 9 Oakheart's Note - SPOILER

Apelred & Tormay visit Aragorn & Gandalf who ask them to investigate the mysterious old crone hobbit Sara Oakheart and are guided by their kinfolk on a hairy journey to Ninas Deloth. SPOILER Sara Oakheart's secret is revealed.

Book 8 The Flickering Flame

Apelred & Tormay brave Carn Dum again with their Flaming Halfling kin. Note to Apel - the quests go much better if you actually have them in your quest log first - foolish hobbit. During this quest Apelred was kindly gifted the Rune of Winged Dominance he needs for his Legendary quest and his Legendary weapon reached level 10 requiring a reforging to progress further.

Filgogan caves

Apelred, Colzarak & Tormay were joined by Vectis to complete the quests in the Filgogan caves.

After 2 years Apelred has eventually been followed into the caves by his friend Grimberg who took some notes and created this map to aid fellow adventurers.

Forochel ritual

Apelred earned his aquaintance reputation with the Forochel locals by performing this feather throwing ritual. This means he has been shown the secret ways to travel to Forochel using his hunters travelling skills.

Tent burning vandals

Apelred and Tormay are upsetting the Angmarim by burning down their tents - they make a nice blaze :)

Level 49

The defeat of this humble spider gave me the experience to progress to level 49 & also contributed to completion of Emnity of the Spiders level 2.

Silk Lady & The Ancient Lair

Apelred, Colzarak & Tormay took on the silk lady and her spiders and won. Then optimistically attempted to free Bethad from the ancient lair. We managed it in the end but only with multiple episodes of defeat, running away and resurrections! Strangely after running away and re-entering we could pull the mobs one at a time which really helped. Our fellowship manoeuvre Sinister Plan worked very well.

Book 7

Apelred & Colzarak run around most of Middle Earth completing Book 7 - thank goodness Apelred has his hunters traveling skills. Chapter 8 will need some help from our friends.

Dwarf Friend

Apelred makes friends with the Dwarves and is allowed to see the crystal chamber in Thorin's Hall.

Guide to East Angmar

Apelred followed the subtle tracks to find the lost brooch and was shown the hunters ways to East Angmar.

Ancient Ironscale

Apelred, Colzarak & Tormay took on the Malenhad Turtles and then went on to defeat the big 18k morale Ancient Ironscale.

Seven Swords

Apelred Colzarak & Tormay attempted the Seven Swords quest.

We collected the swords from the various men who stole them and put them back in their rightful place. Then we accompanied Nethraw into the building to fight the evil spirits within.

In the final battle Tormay bravely healed his fellows attracting the spirits and fell seconds before we succeeded therefore missing out as you have to survive the quest to get the material rewards but gained the reward of great respect from his fellowship.

Mithril Fever

Apelred, Colzarak & Tormay encountered a mithril mining dwarf who needed the sense knocking back into him - we were happy to oblige :)

Winter Worm Trophy

Apelred got a winter worm from Forochel stuffed at the taxidermists in Bree and it is now proudly displayed in his humble abode.

Apelred has the guts for Level 48

Apelred completed another set of quests around Zigilgund & Ita-ma with the defeat of the signature Sabre-tooth to collect cat-gut for the minstrel triggering Level 48.

Below Apelred is defeating Sabre-tooths for the scrimshaw & hides on his way to level 48.

Zigilgund Quests in Forochel

Apelred and Tormay braved the icy wastes of Forochel to help the dwarfs of Zigilgund. Apelred's reputation with the locals progressed from outsider to neutral (boy are they hard to impress!)

Drake Scales in Angmar

Apelred & Tormay helped Colzarak collect Drake Scales for his Guardian quest. We had limited time and managed 14 of the 25 required so will be returning to kill more Drakes and collect their eggs.

Volume 2 Book 1

Apelred got a hunters quest to find the route to Echad Dunnan in Eregion at level 46. So he took the long horse ride from Rivendell and talked to Tinuviel who said he needed to complete 2 deeds before the route can be given. However one of the deeds can only be completed at level 50. Curses were uttered! But then Apelred remembered some advice from Gavin that Volume 2 Book 1 can be completed at a lower level. So he talked to the dwarf at the gates and after about 45 mins of running about feeding dwarfs and killing creban and wolves he is the proud owner of a couple of very nice 26 dps weapons. Warning - if you do the same do not take the last quest as it will invalidate loads of quests in Eregion that are good for leveling up 48-51.

Giant Dodging

Apelred finally defeated the bear Driftclaw at the third attempt having been beaten up by giants the first time, sneaking past them only to get one as an 'add' just before the bear was defeated on the second attempt. The bear was not a problem but getting past the giants is really tough.

One Horse Race

Apelred won the Yule Festival horse race with a canter round the Bree race track on his own!

Yule be Sorry

Apelred conspired with the Mayor and the good hobbits of Hobbiton to serve a petition to oust Lobelia Sackville Baggins as Yule Festival organiser, but wait the petition only has 9 signatures and the Book of Festival Law requires 10 - what can we do? Watch the slideshow to find out who saves the day. Apelred got a nice Yule Tree for his garden as a reward.

Level 46 on the Bitter Stair

Here is a nice pic looking south from the Bitter Stair in the Misty Mountains. Apelred was offered his first raid quests by the dwarfs in the camp to the left.

Playing dead

Apelred got jumped by a couple of snow beasts in the Misty Mountains while mining for anient sliver and used his Hobbit Silence skill to play dead so they would ignore him.

Apelred went on to kill 120 of the creatures to get his title but decided againat killing another 240 for a determination trait that gives 3 agility.
